Might try giving us operating parameters.

Are u going to operate repeaters only or skip or both?
For repeaters and mobiles, you'll want vertical polarization. (Cross
polarization can be 12dB or more)
For skip, either vertical or horizontal will do.

Can u operate SSB as well as FM - not familiar with the RT-70A ?

A discone has been described as a dummy load in the sky, wide band but no
gain.
A vertical 1/4 wave, 1/2 wave, or 5/8 wave will do better. Yagi better
still.

Can you get a yagi up 20+ feet with a rotor?

I can't put up a Yagi, so I use a Cushcraft AR-6 Ringo, 1/2 wave vertical
Your results may vary.

Have worked 48 states and 6 DX stations with it using 100 Watts. Brag brag

What is a good commercially available antenna for 6 meters. I have
an RT-70A/GRC that I'm getting ready to power up in a couple of weeks.
Would my discone suffice?
