Dear Paul (KB3LZP):

Even for free, the tower and antenna appear to me to be too expensive.
You will have to pay rigging twice - once to take the tower apart (assuming
that can be done without damage) and again to erect the tower. The
connection bolts are likely to need to be replaced - especially at the
connection to the foundation.

In the end, you will have (at best) a short tower of dubious safety with
an obsolete antenna that does not cover 18 and 24 MHz bands. You will have
a better, and more safe, result to erect a new, taller tower with known
safety factors and an antenna designed to cover the present bands (above 14
MHz).

As the old Scot has said: even for free, somethings are too expensive.

Gentlemen,

I am attempting to identify the tower manufacture of the tower pictured

at:
http://www.ppinyot.com/antenna.htm. I would like to properly design a
base for it given the manufacturers specs plus perhaps pick up additional
sections.

The tower seems to be of a stamped steel design (not tubular) with stamped
steel cross members. It has been well maintained by the silent key's son.
I gather it is about 10 to 15 years old. There is an unpainted ladder
chained to one side for storage. Please do not confuse this as part of the
tower.

Also if you happen to recognize the beam please Identify it too.

Unfortunately some one discarded all the paper work not knowing it's

value.

Thanks Paul
