long wire antenna

Hi there,

I want to install a long wire antenna to my Sony ICF-SW7600GR, so I'm
wondering whether it will significantly improve reception of already
available broadcasts as well as getting new, farther, emissions.

How that long wire antenna should be made? I mean length, kind of wire, ...

I'm quite naive in the shortwave listening world, thus any kind of help
would be very appreciated!
