Digital cable filter spam

I've been getting a lot spam hawking this filter. My question is, do these
filters really work or are they a rip-off?

well, lets see... if they did work, they would be illegal. if you bought
one and it didn't work and you wanted to complain that a product that would
be illegal didn't work, who would listen? what do you think?

The filter will not get you any free HBO or Skinemax.

It may block the return path on 2-way systems - it seems that people
are selling anything that looks like a filter as a 'digital
descrambler'. I have seen 5-13 traps, attenuator pads, AC blocks, etc
being pushed as descramblers.

With the return path blocked, the box will not send back pay per view
'buys' to the cable company. Sound cool? well . . .

The cable companies have known about 2-way boxes not reporting their
status before the filters - only difference now is that they are more
hardcore in reacting, when they used to just disable PPV, now they
shut off either the entire premium lineup or the entire box. When the
filter user reports that the box is dead, they are told to exchange
it. When it gets back to the QC lab all the PPV buys are reported and
the user gets a whopping bill.
