For receiving purposes just bring a thin plastic insulated antenna wire all
the way to the receiver. Neither coax or balun serve any any useful purpose except make balun and coax salesmen happier. Go ahead. It's a simple matter to try. If you wish to spend any money usefully on the project then make or buy a receiver preselector. (That is if your receiver does not have a built-in preselector.) (Do NOT confuse a preselector with an antenna tuner or impedance matching network which is used for transmitting purposes. They serve different purposes) ---- Reg, G4FGQ |
