Anyone have any experiences with using 2 7/8" tubing as an antenna
support? I'd like to cement the bottom three feet and guy as needed.

And while I agree that the replies were not made in a
'serious' manner, you also have to agree that the original
post didn't provide enough information for a 'serious'
answer. I also doubt if the replies were meant in a 'seriously'
derogatory manner (you have to take ~that~ guess for what it's
worth)...

Look, Mike:

I was the initial response with the questions about wall thickness and
alloy. Because the answers to his simple question are yes and no. Yes, I
have successfully used 2 7/8" tubing as he suggests, and no, 2 7/8" aluminum
thin wall tubing won't hardly support itself, nevermind an antenna. Now, I
suspect he has a particular piece of tubing in sight, or the specific size
wouldn't have been mentioned. But, diameter alone is not enough information
to give him a useful answer. And that makes it a less than serious
question.

The term 2 7/8 tubing is quite familiar around this area,,, and I
suspect he is talking about oilfield tubing,,, which is very stout. I
the wall thickness is in the neighborhood of 1/4". cl.
