Hi all,

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am looking at the TDA1083 IC. The datasheet shows the following
image:

I'm trying to figure out where the input for the FM signal goes. This
IC is supposed to be an AM/FM receiver, but this newbie is a bit
clueless as to where the FM antenna and matching network should be
connected.

Any tips?

I figured there are many veterans here who have messed around with
radio ICs, so I'm trying my luck here.

Hi MRW, the Homebrew Group might be a better place to ask this. Looking
at the IC, it appears you need an external Local Oscillator and Mixer
for the FM section, and that is where the rf input for the FM section
should go. Looks like it has an LO and mixer for AM on the IC. I have
never used this IC.

First, why on earth do you want to use this old chip?! There are plenty
around that are easier to interface as well as almost complete receivers.

Could you please tell us what you actually want to do so we can point you in
the correct direction.

Hi MrW

Try Googling "one chip am/fm dadio with power amlifier tda1083". ATMEL
Wireless show a complete circuit diagram, including the antenna connection.
That looks like an interesting/worthwhile project. Good luck.

If you can find a data sheet there should be a sample circuit, or a test
circuit. These can be invaluable for showing what the designers were
thinking.
