Cable for HG-54HD

Can anyone advise me as to where I might purchase new cables for a Hy-gain
HG-54HD crank-up tower. I noticed mine are beginning to rust on the top
most portion of the tower. I have attempted to reach hy-gain but they just
say we don't make them anymore.

Thanks for your help.

Jim -- don't have any recommendations but will be interested to see any
answers you get. I've got the HG-52SS and did replace the cable set with
one from Hy-Gain when they were still in business the first time.

I find it interesting that they continue to advertise as "Hy-Gain Antennas,
Rotators & Towers" yet when you talk to them about towers all you get is
"vaporware". For example, I just checked their web site and they at least
are advertising replacement tower bases for the 52/37SS towers....'course
the caveat is that they are "coming soon" [and have been for a LONG time].

Maybe if enough of us tower owners contacted them they'd consider making up
some cable sets....I just KNEW I should have bought two sets when I had the
chance!

Jim:

The cable used on crank-up towers is standard stranded galvanized steel
cable of appropriate diameter. Most of the Home Improvement places sell it
and the ferrules and crimping tools and thimbles. McMaster- Carr is a good
source on the Internet. Also any of the off-road truck specialty shops have
cable, but often not that small. Boat shops are another source. And, if
you want to really spend money, go to an aircraft repair shop. Be aware
stainless is not as strong as galvanized steel for the same diameter, and
that there are several stranding schedules, so match the style when buying.
