How would that cause drift? Couldn't it just be to prevent
corrosion, especially on the pickups of a roller inductor
inside?

I picked up the NPO caps yesterday, and I'm looking
forward to seeing if the cure the drift.

I don't know, I never heard an explanation. It might not
even be true. I suppose its possible that moisture could
have some effect on something inside.
Mainly, I thought someone at the Collins site might have
specifications on the components used in the PTO.
