Atlas 210x carrier oscillator board and S-meter
An Atlas 210x is not really a boatanchor, I think it might even float
for a while if thrown overboard. But it is of mid-70s vintage when many full power h.f. rigs were really boatanchors, so I hope someone here might be able to help. I have a problem with the c.w. offset on an Atlas 210x which could be due to component failure on the PC-600 carrier oscillator board. This board is mounted in such a way that it is impossible to access, or even to see, most of the components on the board, although the foil side is accessible. I have a manual and a schematic, but no diagram of component placement. Without a picture of the component side, and being unable to see it, it is hard to relate the accessible foil pattern to the circuit for voltage tests. Also, if I need to replace a component I'll need to remove the board. One of the screws that holds this board in place is not accessible unless the S-meter is removed, and I can't see how it is held in place. So, I wonder if anyone can supply or point me to instructions for removing the S-meter and the carrier oscillator board and/or a picture or diagram of component placement on the board relative to the foil pattern. I posted a message similar to this on the yahoo atlas210x-215x group, with no reply from that group so far. Thanks in advance, Al, N1AW |
