RadioBanter - A Hacked Hallicrafters SX25

Ugh!

I don't know very much about very much but always thought I knew about
SX-25s. I own 3 SX-25s and have owned several other additional SX-25s over
the years. This one is inconsistent with any SX-25 I've ever seen. The ANL
and BFO knobs are not original. The ANL and BFO should be a toggle switches,
not a rotary switch. The cabinet looks to be repainted. It may just be the
impurity of digital photography or lighting but the cabinet is "too crackly"
and "too creamy grey" in color. The holes to the right of the after-market
S-meter indicate some other circuitry invaded this particular SX-25 at some
time. Lord only know what you'd find under the hood. My suspicion is that
someone tried a refurbish job, got halfway into it and abandoned it. $99
starting bid and $40 to ship? They did a nice job on silkscreening the
lettering. But I think I'd let this one pass by.
