Gonset Comunications Monitor RCVR & Miller Coils
 

I have also got a Gonset 112 to 132 mhz rcvr. Seems to work. Im
curious if it is rare or sought after or anything.
Im not in a rush to sell it..just testing the waters and curious. As
well, about the miller coils and transformers.
They are mostly metal case about 2 inches h and about 3/4 of an inch
each side. I think they must have
been used in homebrew projects for ham operators (probably mostly
receiver projects) ie 455 khz if and other
frequencies I have. Were they ever used in commercial radios or just
mainly homebrew.

The Gonset aircraft monitor is not rare. However, there is little demand
among collectors for it. For monitoring aircraft frequencies, modern
digital circuitry is much better. You can set the frequency instead of
tuning and drift is a thing of the past. So, as a user, it is pretty
worthless.

The only value is to sit upon a shelf in a collection of Gonset radios.
Good luck. There are probably 5 collectors in the world and all 5 already
have one.

Gonset made a lot of equipment for the commercial market. Years ago, Fair
Radio was selling a Communicator for the aviation band. They were no longer
type accepted and had the same receiver your unit had.

I would expect to see them at a swap meet for about $15. But, I would pass
it up.

I do have a couple of Gonset Communicators I do need to restore one of these
days.

metropolitan airport, and seeing doubly-redundant radio systems, plus an
additional emergency VHF set, but then seeing an old Communicator under the
table. Just in case.

The aviation band and 2M models were pretty much the same, other than a few
coils changes. Remember the 2M model was AM also.

I do have a couple of Gonset Communicators I do need to restore one of these
days.

I remember using the 2M one with FM modifications in the late eighties, and
getting good signal reports with people absolutely amazed I was on a Gonset.
During an emergency situation I checked into a repeater with a report of
some lines down, and was told that I had to report it on a different
frequency. When I said I didn't have a crystal for that frequency, the
response was priceless.
