Hallicrafters S-9 vs SX-9 differences?

I have a "Super Skyrider" which I believe is either an S-9 or SX-9 but
I have been unable to determine what the difference is between the two
model numbers or which one I have. Can you help?

Thanks!

SX receivers incorporated a simple 455kHz crystal filter (like the Lamb
circuit) with the phasing, etc. controls for setting the bandwidth.

Just plug a 455khz xtal in the socket on the deck and you'll have a SX-9

It may not be that easy. While some rx were built so
that a crystal filter could be added it was usually in the
form of a kit or assembled filter with suitable punch outs
on the panel and chassis. The early Hammarlund Super-Pro was
like this, one could order a crystal filter _assembly_ to
retrofit a receiver without one.
Also, the IF frequency of the S-9/SX-9 was 465 Khz, a
common IF frequency at the time. Until about the mid 1940's
there really was no standardization of IF frequencies,
common ones were 455khz, 456khz, 462khz, 465khz, 172khz (the
last mostly in automobile receivers), and some others.
