FS: Complete Chinese 102E/XD6 HF Station
 

I have one complete, as-new 102E system up for sale. I have two of them
and will keep but one. Included is an AC supply for both the receiver
and transmitter. This system comes with all the field packs, mic,
headsets, key, cables, book (in English), hand crank generator, antenna,
interconnection cable, etc. and some spare tubes. Also included are a
field speaker and VSWR meter. This particular system was featured in
Electric Radio magazine and is currently on the air. Included also is
the ER article and the alignment and modification information. The price
is $400 and can be seen/operated/picked-up in the MD/DC/VA area. JPEGs

Hi, I bought the receiver a type 139 with everything, bag, books,
headphones,
etc in new condx at a fest this year, and have a ball with it.
the rubber headfones are too tough after a bit so use my kenwood hs set.
Cant imagine someone with them on for hours in a jungle,!
anyway works good and I have one question, I made up two 45v batts for
the
90v b+ and bunca d batts in parallel for the filiments. the volume control
doesn't
crank the volume down enuff in my opinion, any mods or should i experiment
with
changing the batt voltages?
I believe the 139 plus the xmtr gives the 102E designation.

The idea with the volume control is prevent some operator from turning
the volume down all the way and forgetting it and, thus, miss an
important call. A few US radio sets have also done this for the same
reason. I'll have to look more closely at the schematic, but maybe
lowering the value of R-221 (located from the audio pot to ground).
Again, this may affect the CW mode, so further checking may be in order.
I'm sure that lowering B+ would correspondingly lower audio output but
that's not the way to do it as you may lose overall gain and
sensitivity? You are correct about the nomenclature. The XD6 is the
combined transmitter and receiver in a single box and no individual
cabinets. The 102E is both units used together. There is still some
controversy, however as to when each designation is used. My second
setup, modeled after an Army comms museum item, was labeled 102E. You
might want to build an ac supply for your receiver and save on
batteries. If you get Electric Radio magazine, there is a power supply
shown in my article. If you'd like a copy, I think I have it scanned,
already.
