Why would you care about somebody pointing out an auction that you might be
interested in? I don't consider that spam unless they start flooding the
group with it.

That's just it.

I've seen these groups totally flooded. Then it goes away for a while and
then the place looks like a classified ad for Ebay again.

Once in a while, fine. But there were some that were doing this
professionally and loading the groups.
