testing 807 on Philco 9100 tester?
 

I have a Philco 9100 dynamic mutualconductance tube tester and would like to
test some 807s on it, but they are not listed in the chart. Does anyone know
what the proper settings are?

Find 1625 and set fils to 6.3v

The pinouts are completely different. IIRC the 807 is a 5-pin and the
1625 is a 6-pin. If the tester switches are there to swizzle the
connections around, they very probably won't get swizzled right by
setting it for the 1625.

Not to mention that if it doesn't list the 807 it probably won't list the
1625.

Although you have to change the socket and element wiring, the 6L6 data
should get you close.

Thanks, Colin. That should get me to where the scaling on the meter should
be close enough for a comparative reading. But I also have to figure out how
to map the letter designations for the filament to pin numbers so that I can
go from the pin diagram to settings on the tester. Do you know how to do
that?

Hi Bot:

Sorry for the delay. The tube tester manual should give you that
information - plus the pinouts for the 807 and 6L6. Assuming it is a mutual
conductance tester, there should be a switch for each element and you just
need to transpose each element.

Or, you could simply make an adapter socket with an octal base and a 5 pin
socket, with a wire coming out the side for the plate. Then, plug the
adapter into the 6L6 socket and read away. You may have to adjust the pots
a bit. It would be perfect for comparing 807s and will show you a dud.
Take a known good 807 and adjust the bias to make the tube read good and
that may be as good as you need.
