Heathkit Apache TX1 Saga

Having developed an interest in a.m. recently, I purchased a Heathkit
Apache TX1 a.m. transmitter of about 1960 vintage. Although the Apache was
in reasonable general condition with only a bit of surface rust, the 6146
finals were missing, it had a 27.495Mhz crystal installed (suspicious!) and
a modification to the VFO. An output had been taken from the cathode of the
VFO valve through a variable pot (wire wound!) to a socket on the back.

The h.v. ON lamp was missing. The fan was also...

FT-767 Processor Question

Anyone know how to get to the processor pot internal to the 767? Looking
at one here that is intermittent at best. May need to replace. Appreciate
any info (deox doesnt help). Either full on or full off....

Im still working on my never-ending Hallicrafters HT-32 project. I was
setting up for neutralizing the finals, and I spotted a wisp of smoke.
Looked as if it originated from the SSB generation section, so I removed
the shielding cover and after a bit of searching, found this crispy-looking
rascal:

I believe it to be R145, 10K, one watt. It does still read right at 10K.



So, here are my two questions for the Elmers he



1) What would be the reason for this...

Ive been looking for some/an older rig to get in the shack for some time
now. I have an excellent setup with a modern rig that is a pleasure to
work with but want to get back to the roots of radio and have a radio that
glows in the dark when its running. With hamfest season coming up I
squirreled away some HDK money (honey dont know) and we headed up to the
local fest this past weekend for a look.



After finalizing a trade at the hamfest that was set up prior we started
looking through...
