Default What is a fair price for a Heathkit Mohican rcvr?

I plan to sell the Mohican at a hamfest in a couple of weeks.
It works well, but it is missing the telescoping antenna. It
has the original assembly manual. What is a fair price to
ask for this radio?

By the way - I had to laugh - I heard that somebody referred
to it as a "canoe anchor"!

Thanks!

I had one once. Would ask $100, be happy with $85, settle for $75, though
maybe the collectors are really hot for one. Missing that HUGE long antenna is
a shame, as this was maybe the very first true "porta top" rx.

If you have both the battery holder and the AC supply that fits into the
battery compartment, that may partly make up for the missing antenna, but only
partly.

As you know, this radio looks and feels great, but performance suffers terribly
if you use the bandspread dial at all, since the BS tuning cap has only one
gang, for the LO. Boooo!!!!

Heard that one before, but it's still pretty funny :-)

Mike,

The missing antenna really is a shame. I got the thing at an
estate sale with a bunch of other stuff - my only interest in
the radio was fixing it if it wasn't working, but it works
fine. I would have loved to see that big antenna. The hole
in the cabinet where the antenna goes suggests that it is huge,
as you say.

Thanks to you and the other folks who responded!
