Chicago transformer
 

Have a chicago transformer transformer has 11 bolt type connections. Ohm
meter is loaned out at present. The only identfying number is 8456. Im
guessing it weighs 15lb or more. I am thinking it is a bias supply
transformer. Couldnt find anything on it in the '53 or '58 catalog. believe
it to be newer than that.

Found some more info that may help id this xformer'
Measured hv secondary at 530-0-530, 2- 6.3 windings and a 5 volt winding.
120vac on the primary. There goes my bias supply theory. Still would like to
find more info such a current ratings if I can.

A little low for an RF power amp, too high for an rx. Maybe a high-powered
audio amp or modulator?

While this is obviously a power transformer, I am begining to think it was
used as a modulation transformer. The rest of the chassis contain parts for
a 2500 volt power supply. Then there is this lone transformer with few
supporting 7pieces , no rectfiers, no caps of any substanial size. There is
achoke and a couple of very small caps .5uF , looks more like an audio
filter than something for a power supply. A lot of the under chassis wiring
had been ripped out so it is hard to tell.
