Hi group --- Looking for a power transformer for a HRO 60 or one that would give me 240v at 140 ma. TIA John K3OPC ====================================== John: Before you replace that power transformer be sure to remove/replace C-118. That is the 0.1 uF capacitor connected from pin 4 of V-17 (5Y4G) to the chassis. A shorted C-118 is probably what burned out your original transformer. A shorted C-118 is a well-known problem with the HRO-60 and it results in instant destruction of the power transformer. That capacitor serves no useful function and should just be removed. If you wish to replace it (and I wouldn't) be sure to use a new capacitor rated at 630 VDC or better. And don't be fooled into thinking that the AC line fuse will protect the power transformer - it won't! Best Regards, Ed Canyon Lake, TX |
