Kenwood ts-830
 
i recently aquired a Kenwood TS-830S,can someone tell me the
difference in appearance in the KB-1 knob,and,the original?I am trying
to decide whether this one has the KB-1
also this has a gold label...was there a difference between the gold
label,and,the regular lablel?

Monte,

The Gold Edition had the 500 hz CW filter as standard. Other than that, they
are electrically and physically the same as the non-Gold Edition.

The KB-1 knob has a spinner/thumb area at one spot for faster dial movement.
It is a brown/bronze sort of color and doesn't match the gray panel. Hence, if
it is the same color it isn't the KB-1 optional, weighted knob. A good
substitute for the KB-1 is a replacement knob for the Ten-Tec Omni 6, Orion,
etc. They're weighted and only cost $19 from Ten-Tec whereas the KB-1 sells
for $50-125 on Upay, I mean Ebay.
