For those of us who like the warm tube radio sound, I have found that the
Drake 2-A and Drake 2-B are not only great old amateur receivers, but they make great short receivers as well. JAN crystals still custom makes crystals that will allow the Drakes to tune 49, 31, 25, and 16 meter SW bands. With the SW crystals, the radios offers triple conversion, high sensitvity, selectable selectivity, stable and accurate LMO, all in a small package size that doesn't take up a table. The matching Q multiplier/speaker is a plus also. I am sure that I'm not the first to find this out, but I thought I would pass along my satisfaction with these grand old radio receivers. Jim |
