Galaxy V Panel Meter Calibration

Hi, Gang

I've recently picked up a 1966 vintage WRL Galaxy V transceiver -
a nice rig, once you get over the fear of imminant electrocution
(no cover over the 950V on the final tubes, not even
a latch to hold the cabinet lid down.) It was obviously built
to a price, but has held up well.

The panel meter is only marked in S/Units, with a few marks
labeled "tune" "Voice" and "cw". I hooked an external d.c.
current source to the common cathodes of the final tubes,
and ran a calibration check, since the manual didn't disclose
what the panel meter marks represented. I held the small T/R
relay closed by hand, so the panel meter would be set up
to indicate cathode current.

The "S 4-1/2" point (for SSB bias with no drive), is 60mA.
The "tune" point is 200 mA.
The "c.w." point is 380 mA.

73,

Does that mean you got that old rig running?
