Default Meter Contamination No.1 repair

Hi,
Can anyone advise on the repair of these British 1950s geiger counters?
The one I've had for years has ceased to "click". The power supply tests fine,
and I'm getting a decent voltage to the probe unit.
The GM tube works fine in a different unit and changing to another tube doesn't
help.
All suggestions gratefully received.
TIA
RC
