What ever you do, DONT USE 409 or FANTASTAC, it will take off the paint! I
have several items that were given to me by my best friend who smoked
forever and they are yellow. I've got a metal radio desk he used and thank
goodness I started on it first, because paint came off in places that
couldn't be seen. I asked the Hallicrafters Group and they suggested several
homemade cleaners and Simple Green. Simple Green works very well and doesn't
remove paint. However, be careful of glass dials, even water can remove the
paint there. Try to clean with a swab without touching the paint.

I have heard guys using soap and water to "wash" the inside of badly
gooked up radios, while Im not that daring I was wondering if there is
something I can spray on and blow off with an air hose?
I feel reluctant about having water inside my radios.

Thanks...Gil
