echophone ec-1
 
looking for any info on replacing filter caps for a echophone ec-1
hums loud when plugged in.
any help would be great.part numbers ect.

You'll probably never find the originals. You may find can caps that
are close in value but form and fit may be an issue. If I may make a
suggestion; either gut the original cans (if so equipped) and re-stuff
with the equivalent, smaller Xichon (sic) caps from Mouser or just wire
the new ones on the bottom of the chassis, out of sight. The thing
deserves to be back on the air!!! de K3HVG

One thing to check on this radio is the rubber grommets used to insulate
the chassis from the case. They are usually dried out and need to be
replaced. Use an isolation transformer when servicing this radio. If the
grommets are bad there can be a direct connection to the case from the
AC line. I have a copy of the original manual, it's not great but I
could scan it.
