Wanted: Speaker for R-388

No way to listen to my first boatanchor, a beautiful R-388 arriving in 3-5
days. Anyone have a good 8" or so speaker? An original Collins would be
nice but I need something now. Also like the metal Hammarlunds. Are
military speakers decent sounding? Suggestions welcome.
Thanks.

Go to your local installed sound contractor and buy an 8" PA speaker with
a 70V transformer. Speaker, cabinet, and transformer should come to around
$20 new. Runs nicely with a 600 ohm source, and I think it sounds better
than typical military comm speakers.

If you ask nicely, lots of the installed sound guys will give you free ones
pulled out of old installs.
