The Chelsea Timemaster is the pinnacle of maritime timekeeping - and
this model features a Radio Room dial. This clock has been used for many years by the United States Navy in the demanding shipboard environment - setting the standard long before satellites were used for navigation - and still in use today. This Chelsea Timemaster has a silent, high precision quartz movement as specified by the U.S. Military. It meets standards for vibration, temperature and humidity extremes. The accuracy of this quartz movement is +/- 1 minute per year. The Chelsea Timemaster clocks have passed U. S. Navy tests for accuracy, shock, vibration, temperature and humidity extremes. 6" diameter Radio Room dial Accurate 12 hour quartz movement (+/- 1 min per year) Second register Hinged front bezel Second hand Black phenolic case $200 shipped in original special box from Chelsea |

Ok, but where is a picture of this "pinnacle of maritime timekeeping"?

If you'd like to save $180 or more, this makes a nice radio room clock.
http://antiqueradio.org/art/temp/Mas...ftersClock.jpg I have two of them. The second, missing the dial cover but working perfectly, cost $1 from a junk box under the table at a swap meet. I think there are many more out there. Phil Nelson Phil's Old Radios http://antiqueradio.org/index.html |

Much as I like Chelsea, a quartz movement doesn't add up. A Benjamin
Micheals (sp?) 24 Hr clock looks just as nice. If you want accuracy, get a MFJ atomic clock. BTW, Chelsea wanted $400 to change the face of my Maritime Commission clock over to the "radio room" version. I understand someone else may be able to do the job just as nice. Any leads? |

http://www.sparkbench.com/xrc.jpg $200 for a quartz clock in a plastic case. You can get one for $180 on eBay. I still think the old Mastercrafters clock with world map is cooler. Best of all, it's not a quartz clock in a plastic case :-) Phil |

Olaf Benjaminsen My radio room clock is a Le Cross Technology clock set to UTC that synchronizes with WWVB every night. I never have to worry about resetting it. It also gives me the date, outdoor temerature, and indoor temperature. 73, Bob AD3K |

Speaking of our hamshack clocks, some years ago I had a Seiko that showed
time in any of the time zones around the world by a bezel that could move. It was actually a clock nice enough to go on your mantle, as it was in a brushed "gold-colored" case, with smoked plastic sides, etc. I really liked that clock, but in a military move to Korea and back, the movers destroyed it. Sure wish I could find another one, at a reasonable price -- back in teh early '80's, I think I paid around $100 for it. Earl -- Earl Needham Clovis, New Mexico USA |
