Hallicrafters S-38 Back/Bottom
Were these made of fiberboard? Or was the bottom metal? I have just
picked up an S-38B with neither. Thanks, Bob Grimes -- "What do you mean there's no movie?" |
Hallicrafters S-38 Back/Bottom
The S-38B has a cardboard back and bottom. Only the early runs of the
original S-38 had a metal bottom with a cardboard back. All the later versions the S-38A, S-38B, etc. had cardboard bottoms and backs. Best Regards, Ed |

I saw a place on the net that had the backs for the S-38 and the A model but a little trimming would do the trick. Another site had the template for the bottom also. Would you happen to know what size the rubber grommet/feet were on the bottom? Thanks, Bob Grimes -- "What do you mean there's no movie?" |

Thanks, Bob Grimes -- Bob Piekarz, Bob's Antique Radios in LaGrange Park, IL http://www.radioantiques.com/ has the backs and bottoms for the Hallicrafters S-38 and S-38A http://www.radioantiques.com/mall.html Since these radios were manufactured in the Chicago area, Bob was able to find the original firm that made these fiber board backs and bottoms for Hallicrafters. SO, you get the real McCoy (same material, same mfg.) .. abit 50 years later. http://www.radioantiques.com/order.html gb |

The feet on by S-38B are about 3/8" thick and 3/4" in diameter.
