K279BO had launched in October 2014 as a commercial-free competitor to Alpha Medias 98.7 The Bull KUPL and Entercoms 99.5 The Wolf KWJJ to siphon some ratings shares from the full-powered competitors. Tailgate never generated any momentum as it registered a 0.3 share in its final PPM monthly. The flip to Classic Country fills an untapped void in the Portland market. The change follows the exit of K279BO and Sports Rip City Radio 620 KPOJ Executive Producer Bobby Corser last week.
