FM Interference when the sun comes up

Cloud bounce, or atmosphere bounce. I used to get 102.3 from Cape May NJ in
certain parts of Baltimore in the 7am-9am range during days with foggy
mornings. As the fog burned off the reception vanished.

Maybe there's an intermittent connection that's worsened by the
heat of the sun (when heated, most metals tend to expand. This might
be partially loosening a connection to, or even within, the antenna,
causing the signal to weaken).
