Here's the results of the most recent DX test that have been received
he Saturday, December 20, 2003 - WMOX-1010, Meridian, MS tested 12:00 am - 1:00 am CST: This test was heard by many - it evidently got out well. In York, PA, Bruce Collier got them right away, with their first code ID. All the way in Seaside, OR, Patrick Martin also heard the test, mainly the Morse code - he noted interference from CBR. Bill Harms in Elkridge, MD also heard the test, despite a local about 6 mi away. James Niven in Moody, TX reported the test coming in pretty well at his QTH - he heard CBS news, ads, and "Coast to Coast AM" as well as the Morse. Nick Hall-Patch in Victoria, BC had about decided he didn't hear the test when CBR faded down and the Morse from the test came up. Shawn Axelrod in Winnipeg, MB says he heard nothing but the code, repeated several times; the same was true for Rick Robinson in Hendersonville, NC - he heard the code repeated at least 10 times, but WINS-1010 in NYC was dominant - as was the case for Gerald Atherton in Rice Lake, WI. Robert Hoops in IN also reported hearing just the Morse - he commented that he would not have been able to ID WMOX without it. Ron Gitscher in Palm Coast, FL heard them, as did Gerry Bishop in Niceville, FL. John J. Reiger in South Milwaukee, WI reports he heard them, poor but with code, and no QRM from CFRB or WINS - he said he got an e-mail QSL from Jim Myrick of WMOX in 6 minutes! Jerry Coatsworth in Merlin, ON also heard the WMOX code under WINS and CFRB; Barry McLarnon in Ottawa, ON also heard them under CFRB, as well as a station he thinks might be in TN. Liz Cameron of the Michigan Area Radio Enthusiasts also heard the test, but only the code IDs, due to QRM from CFRB. Michael Procop in Bedford, OH also heard the code IDs, as well as some Coast to Coast bumper music, but also noted QRM from CFRB and WINS - and WINS was largely the problem for Dave Braun in Wyoming, DE, who also reported hearing the test and the code. But not everyone was able to hear the test - Kevin Redding in Mesa, AZ had no luck, as did Chuck Boehnke in Keaau, HI, Patrick Griffith in Westminster, CO, Eric Breon in Middletown, PA (he noted that WINS and CFRB dominated the frequency by him), Russ Edmunds in Blue Bell, PA, and Nigel Pimblett in Medicine Hat, AB (for him, CBR, at 180 mi away, was the main problem). That's all for now... Lynn. Visit the IRCA Web Site at http://www.ircaonline.org |
