Commercially available outdoor FM antennas [Non directional beams]
 

Can anyone tell me what outdoor FM antennas are available that are
either dipoles, or folded dipoles, or end fed halfwave antennas,
,j-poles - etc? Not directional parasitic beams!

There seem to be slim pickings, or it's just my searching skills that
are naff! :c) You come across quite a lot of transmitting antennas but
I'm after receiving antennas.

Actually, this is a pretty good source, sells RX folded dipoles and crossed
dipoles (turnstiles).

Jerrold makes a couple halo antennae. I'd go to folks like Jerrold,
Winegard, and the other TV outfits.

You can, of course, use transmitting antennae for receive, although you
will have to deal with it being 50 ohms source rather than 75.

You can make your own without much work.

Well, I have the following list:

Dipole: "Radio Rod"

Straight Folded Dipole: "R.1100-FM"

Circular Folded Dipole: "All-Rounder"; "FM1080" (Several makes)

S shaped Folded Dipole:?

Crossed Dipole (Turnstile) :"R.1100-FM OMNI"; "PR-6010"; "BTY-2-FM";
"FMSS"

End-Fed Halfwave: "FM-2G"; "ST-2"

J-type:? (Seen some broadcast type)

That's my list. If anyone can add any more models, feel free.

If you want a nice factory built folded dipole, just take one of the
crossed dipoles, like radio shack sells, and remove one of the two dipoles
and through it away. You are left with a single folded dipole with higher
gain than the crossed dipole. That is what I use.

Radio Shack no longer sells the crossed dipole. I spent some time last month
trying to find one, ended up getting the last FM Yagi I could find in stock
in the Minneapolis_St. Paul area...looks like they are discontinuing that
too.
