Analogue radio switch-off nears A switch-off date for analogue radio will be decided later this year by Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell. Ms Jowell said she would review digital radio take-up in a foreword to a report due to be published by the industry's Digital Radio Development Bureau. She said she would be "considering how long it would be appropriate for sound digital broadcasting services to be provided in analogue form". By the end of June, 600,000 digital radios had been sold in the UK. The decision to switch off analogue radio will mean about 100 million radios will become obsolete. -- "I am afeard there are few die well that die in a battle; for how can they charitably dispose of anything when blood is their argument? Now, if these men do not die well, it will be a black matter for the King that led them to it; who to disobey were against all proportion of subjection." - W.S. |
