Baseball's World Series live on BBC Radio Five Live
Press Releases
Date: 22.10.2004 As the Boston Red Sox attempt once more to reverse the 'curse of the Bambino' by taking on the St Louis Cardinals in baseball's World Series, BBC Radio Five Live will be there to convey all the excitement back to listeners at home, with full live commentary on Five Live Sports Extra. The Red Sox haven't won a World Series since 1918, two years before they sold baseball legend Babe Ruth to arch rivals New York Yankees. Since then the Sox have endured almost a century of misery, failing to win the World Series a single time. This is the first time since 1967 that they have played the St Louis Cardinals, and on that occasion the Cardinals won. Up All Night (1.00-5.00am daily) will have live coverage from the games throughout the series. Five Live Sports Extra will carry live commentary of the first six games, with the seventh game, if it goes that far, being on BBC Radio Five Live. Simon Brotherton will commentate on each game with Josh Chetwynd, catcher for Great Britain's team, providing expert analysis. The first two games are at Boston's ground, Fenway Park, on the nights of 23 and 24 October, then the next three are at Busch Stadium, home to the Cardinals, on 26, 27 and 28 October. The sixth and seventh games, should they be required, are back at Fenway Park on 30 and 31 October. Five Live Sports Extra coverage from Boston start at 12.25am and from St Louis Busch Stadium at 12.55am. Listen to Five Live on AM, on digital and online. http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pre...baseball.shtml |
