I have 3 Pogo RadioYourway's (the original AM/FM) that I power with
3 NiMH D cells with voltage dropped with a diode, so they can record a week without swapping batteries. (DC power plug snipped from optional AC adapters, a very odd size. I want them as backup for when there's a power failure and the regular recording doesn't work.) They're okay, but the AM portion is _very_ insensitive; it really has to be a really local station, I suppose to overcome internal processor noise. You get more sensitivity back if you use it with a MW loop, which is what I do. At 16kbs you get 4.5hr on the 32mb model, and 18hr with the 128mb model, only available at the Pogo site. You can add a memory chip on either, though I haven't done that because I don't have a PC with a USB port and so can't format one. I use them without a PC at all, so can't speak to how well their software works. Recording with 2 AAA NiMH's that fit in the device is limited to about 4 hours; with a good NiMH, maybe the full 4.5 hrs, most of the time. -- Ron Hardin On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk. |
