KFI - "farm information". The station originally had a fair amount of
agricultural reporting. When I listened to it in the 60s it still had a

KFI was randomly assigned the calls very early on. They created their own
meaning from their programming. The same owner, Earle C. Anthony, also had
KECA, his initials, and now KABC. Anthony was a major Cadillac and Packard
dealer in the Southland.
