[Airwaves] Radio call letters: What do they mean?

WNOP's studios were *IN* the Ohio river! -- floating in the river, which happens to be almost completely "owned" by the state of Ken- tucky. Cite, please? Which part? There was an article in the National Radio Club's "DX News" years ago giving a tour of the WNOP "Jazz Ark" floating in the river. Unique, indeed! (sure wish I could find it) The next year, on my way to the Dayton Hamvention, I made a point of looking for the floating tanks where the article said they were -- and they were there. They no longer are. I have no idea whether the river actually belongs to the state of Kentucky, the original poster will have to provide any evidence of that... -- Doug Smith W9WI Pleasant View (Nashville), TN EM66 http://www.w9wi.com |
