Poor profit margin? That term is useful when a product fails to
make a profit even after volumous sales.

Since when have you ever sold enough volume to claim poor
profit margin?

The real reason is the Telstar focus group took the day off when
it came time to determine the demand for the finished product.

It's time to fire the entire marketing department, purchasing
department, manufacturing department, and engineering
department and go back to delivering newspapers.

Hey t-schmuck... you sound like a shrewd businessman.
That must be new math... saying that it takes a lot of sales to show a
poor profit margin...lol
One unit or a million units... poor profit margin is the same!

The components were very expensive for that amplifier... we used
nothing but premium electrical and chassis components... to say
nothing of the finest grade FR4 pc board material. That stuff doesn't
come cheap! That amplifier was also very labor intensive to build.
Just wasn't worth all the trouble to offer a unit of that high
quality.

I believe that. But if it was cracked up t the specs, you should have been able
to sell them. Can you sell the plans?

The point is that you can't sell them at a price that would be
worthwhile. I know that only too well...

Then why start in the first place? You post your 'inventions' on this
board and then back away. Buyer beware...

So you won't back your product any more? No customer service?

What's the person that actually bought the amp suppose to do when it
goes bad? This assumes that your buddy Gunsmoke bought one.

Companies always offer products with the vision of making a good
profit. Sometimes, due to changes in costs... the profit margin is
negatively impacted. This is covered in business 101... lol
The product that is in the field is still fully supported at

or maybe a product that didn't exist for sale?
Wasn't it only a few weeks ago we were all being asked to say what we wanted
a speech processor to do.

Why re-invent products that are already on the market and much better? Try
being a re-seller instead and get some advice on how to run a company.

Actually you can h ave poor profit margin even with small sales. With
low volume sales the average selling prive needs to be increased s uch
that a desired profit can be made. The problem come sinwhen the
market can't bare the desired average selloing price to make a
reasonable profit. Thus poor profit margin. Most likely his latest
adaptation did not sell enough, cost became to high and he was selling
the amp far more than what the market could bare. Therefore any price
decrease would yield poor profit margins unless sales increase
remarkably.

Even in small quantities, 10 boards, you can get a PCB of 40 square
inches in the $16 per board range. That is 2 layer FR4 0.062 thick.
That includes silkscreen and solder mask. That is with 5 day delivery.
10 day delivery will be about $2 per board less. IF you do about 5000
boars you should be around $6 per board. You can have a Chinese house
do it for about $4 per board in 5K quantity .
