10 Meter Radios ?

From: lid (Crazy*Horse)
So, this brings me to my question about 10

Meter radios. Are these like CB radios on

steroids?

Yes. More power, channels.

I see the disclaimer that operating these

radios is unlawful without an amateur radio

operator's license. Does this law ever get

enforced?

Use it in your truck without a linear and your chance of hitting the
lotto is about the same as you getting busted with it.

In terms of practical usage, are 10 meters

preferable to CBs?

You say tomato, tomatoe

What I mean is, does the extra power really

matter in the day-to-day real world life of your

typical trucker?

Thanks.

CB by law is 4 watts out. Many export radios can easily double that.
Doubling one's power at low watts can make a huge difference on 11
meter.

So it sounds like one could use a 10-Meter illegally without fear of
likely getting busted for it. Still, I'll probably hold off on getting
a 10-meter until I'm "down the road" a bit.

Thanks for the feedback.
