Look what the Uncle looked for...
I can understand finding this one:
http://www.fcc.gov/eb/FieldNotices/2...-274352A1.html but this one? http://www.fcc.gov/eb/FieldNotices/2...-274350A1.html There are a bazillion notices to stores selling analog TV's that don't have a DTV tuner. Those sets need this label: "CONSUMER ALERT This television receiver has only an analog broadcast tuner and will require a converter box after February 17, 2009, to receive over-the-air broadcasts with an antenna because of the Nation's transition to digital broadcasting. Analog-only TVs should continue to work as before with cable and satellite TV services, gaming consoles, VCRs, DVD players, and similar products. For more information, call the Federal Communications Commission at 1-888-225-5322 (TTY: 1-888-835-5322) or visit the Commission's digital television website at: [1]www.dtv.gov." New sets need to have an NTSC/ATSC tuner. And you thought the only important thing in TV's were the ANT/CATV setting! For those that care, ATSC will happen in the UHF portion. The VHF and most of the UHF will be taken away for good. Also expect an 800 megahertz rebanding in the future making obsolete older Motorola trunktrackering scanners. Thanks Sprint/Nextel! It's going to cost Nextel millions of dollars to accomplish. Scanner users will not be reimbursed. |
