Oooops all most forgot, I bought a 500 foot roll of 14 gauge copper wire
from Home Depot for around 25 dollars (good buy) and throw up a
multiband dipole to keep and ear on the ham bands, uses a 1:1 Curent
Balun also.

Hi Jay

No beam antenna to go along with the Interceptor?

Hello Steveo:

Oh yeah sure,

Extra stuff: An extra tower for a 5 element beam. They seeem to give the
most bang for the buck. As the cost of the Boom (the most expensive
material cost) length at say .75 wavelengths long. As the beam has more
elements the cost of the Boom will start to not be a good deal to get a
few extra dB.

Hello Tony:

Your e-mail address that you sent me bounced. So I will answer you here.

I use Amidon FT-240-K Toroid Cores that are 2.4 inches in diameter. I
wrap two each 12 or 14 gauge Thermaze Wires, taped together, at least 7
to 9 turns for the 10/11 meter band. I use a few more turns for the
lower bands 40/80/160. The input or output side doesn't matter which end
you use.

The Balun is installed between the coax and the dipole feed point. The
coiled wires around the Toroid Core will appear to choke off all current
going thru it, but thats not how it works. As the unbalanced currents
are applied from the coax into the two windings, the current are allowed
to be equal and opposite (just what you after) in the output being
connected to the dipole feed point in the middle of the antenna.

Also the Toroid Balun Chokes off currents wanting to travel down the
outer side of the coax shield. Without the Balun choking off these
currents wanting to run down the coax, these currents will make the
antenna work at a lower frequency, and in some case with a much worst
SWR at the frequency the dipole is cut for.

Look up Balun on Google and there are a lot of good sites explaining all
this.

I have Baluns on the Beams, and I have a cheapie Alpha Delta dipole
antenna that I have a Balun on and it works great. I would not try it
without a balun.
