Some hams complain cbers run way more power than necessarry.

I say hogwash. I have listened and most cbers run completely legal
power.

However, You're definitely running too much power if your cb antenna
looks like this while you transmit.

However, if it does, your HOA nimbys won't even dare to sneak onto
your property to sneakily take your cb antenna down.

Nah, he's in Australia. Here in the U.S., it won't be the FCC - it'll be
the EPA because they'll smell the ozone for a good mile radius LOL.

Any real old-timers around that used to watch "I've got a secret"? The one
back in the late 50's or so. If so, do you remember the guy that stood on
one of those things and let 1,000,000 volts of electricity pass through his
body? I remember that wooden 2X4 he held in his hand - and it showed
burning along one of its' sides. Now *that*, to me, defined balls of steel
LOL.

if there is some hoa nimbys who are dumb enough to try to sneakly take
down your antenna while they see it looking like that, youwould not
have to worry about them ever taking down anyone of your antennas ever
again or telling you what to doever again.

Of course then you'll have some other problems.

Like trespassers?

It can do something similar. Just for kicks take the adjustable
stainless tip off of a mobile antenna and replace the tip with a
similar length of copper wire. It will only take about 200 watts
to light up the tip of the copper wire. It will burn green.

Hello Jim:

Yeah thats typical of most of the big boy drivers, you don't want to be
near the finials. (hopefully this is humor)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, try to stay out of Jail.....

That Tesla coil reminds me of Tesla's labratory right up the road from
me. It was located in Wardenclyffe (now Shoreham, NY) and remnants still
exist.

Have a look at:
http://www.teslascience.org/

Here is what some of it looks like now:
