What The Hell Happened?
 

I have not been on this group in about ten years. I am sad to see
that REC.RADIO.CB has changed so much. 9 out of 10 posts are merely
homosexual banter. (Disgusting!) There is very little talk about CB
Radio. I learned a lot about radio in the late 90’s by reading posts
from this group and posting questions. I guess the days of straight
people actually discussing radio mods; antennas and radio theory in
this forum are gone. Very Sad!

I also miss the old days of just radio, amps, antennas & SWR but gone
are those days. GLad I was her from 1991 when it all really started.
It was fun all the years it lasted. It is mainly gay (as you said
disgusting) stuff, but you see there was one or 2 guys mainly one that
hated so much on guys that had amplifiers that since he could NOT do
anything about it in the REAL WORLD, he decided he would just post
smut here. And well it caught on. Kind of like yelling fire in a
crowded movie house...

Well look at the state of cb radio itself. most of the same bull thats
posted on this site is also spewed over the air by shameles users. its
a fact that we will all have to deal with with the state of the
internet and radio today

Hamtards took it over GA, just like your CB radio. A bunch of asswipes with
callsigns (multiple choice no CW test) makes it easy for most anyone to get
letters and numbers affixed to their name, doesn't make them good radio
operators or NG participants.

That question reminds me of the film, Citizens Band. Those were the
days when CB users knew how to deal with the idiots.

Can you tie a rope between their computer and your car, then drive
off?

Unfortunately, its been that way across the entire rec.radio.*
hierarchy for the last several years.
most of the intelligent people have moved to other forms of getting
their message out (blogging and such).

I tend to spend most of my time on RSS feeds so newsgroups are only a
once-a-month lookover for me
anymore. besides, since mostly the stupid people hang out here, they
get to listen to themselves and
start keyboard word wars (flamewars) and such. My suggestion, call it
a day on newsgroups. they are
now obsolete.

it is particularly bad here in the phoenix area. you have some of the
channel 19 crowd that
"dis" truckers for whatever reasons (I'd repeat the words, but then
I'd have to wash my
hands after wards). Some of them even run upwards of 2 kilowatts and
more and don't care what
they are doing to their neighbors equipment or the adjacent bands that
other users might be using.

This mentality is not strictly limited to the 11 meter band either. we
have it (in a much smaller fashion) in
ham radio (and it exists in commercial radio and TV). It all goes to
one simple problem: the stupid have
a much higher reproduction rate than the intelligent do.
