Taste's great..! but is much less filling on the serious discussion side. Most Hams don't sit and talk technical all day long, they are just regular people for the most part. : CBers are less technical, and as a result, are more like : talking to "regular" people. Topics are more varied, and you can "fool : around" without fear of upsetting the "kilocycle kops", and have more : fun. Dave I've never met a kilocycle kop or anything like one. I know a lot of very technical CB'ers who have no interest in Amateur Radio. I know a lot of very non technical hams. : of serious discussions and one can learn alot from just listening. On : the other hand though, a constant diet of technobabble gets VERY boring : fairly quickly. Have you been on a ham band lately..? Taste's great..! but is much less filling on the serious discussion side. Most Hams don't sit and talk technical all day long, they are just regular people for the most part. I hear just as many radio and ailment checks from both groups. I hear folks trying out many different frequencies and modes on ham. I still need to get an all-mode 6 meter radio... Anyone got an RCI5054? |

I still need to get an all-mode 6 meter radio... Anyone got an RCI5054? Yuck! Why not just get a used Icom 706? They can be had for $400 or less, and they are much better designed and built than an RCI (glorified CB). I'm getting a feel for things. Big hamfest this weekend. My HT better come back from repair real soon. |
