Can it be fitted to a specific channel or does it takes all the channels
once it is installed?

What is the purpose or what does a tone does in a radio?

Do you mean the CTCSS tone?
This is like a squelch. It cuts out the sound until someone transmits

with
the same tone on their system.

Can an export radio (10m converted) be installed a tone?

You could fit CTCSS on any radio, including CBs.

I saw a 10 m hand held, with a 88mhz tone.

Do you mean 88Hz... 88MHz is not quite a "tone".

Does this helps with reach and transmission to another
radio which has the tone?

It will not improve distance or received sound in any way. All it does is
keep your speaker quiet until the correct person transmits. Unlike a

normal
squelch, it is not opened up by any signal above a set strength, it only
opens if the correct tone is received.
The tone transmitted is a low frequency audio signal. The level of this
tone is low enough, so that you will not hear it, but it can still be

picked
up by the internal circuits.

This is really intended for services where a frequency is shared by

several
people or groups, each of whom wish to use their system privately without
the others bothering them. While it could be fitted on CB, it would just
defeat the object of CB - a "community" type system where anyone can talk

to
anyone.

Regards,

Peter.
