dx33hml ,,blows fuses

hello group
i have a galaxy dx33hml,its an older one
has a date under the cover " volt con 9-15-93"
anyways,,this thing started blowing fuses as soon as power is applied
directly behind the pa speaker jack on component side of board
i was able to see the remnants of a burnt component down there
i figured this was the problem
to gain access to this location i clipped the leads at the power
connector
and removed it
there is no markings for this burnt component,,and i can only locate
the one end of it
maybe it went up to the power connector
but in any case the power connector itself has a dead short
no resistance at all between pos and neg side
there is a ceramic disk type cap going from ground con,
to the bracket for the power connector
as well as another going from pos to neg side
and what i beleive to be a diode going from pos to neg side
i woukld like to replace all these components while it is out
anybody know the values of them all
and what the mystery part is on the board
maybe im thinking these parts are not necessary
as the solder work is pretty shoddy
they appear to be an after thought,,,or previous repair
thanks in advance

Don,

There's a schematic and parts list available for this radio at cbtricks.com

That should let you know what goes where, what the part values are, etc.

Sounds like a blown protection diode.

Don;
Take a look at the pages that Alan posted. They have have a
layout of your board. You should be able to find which component was
the one that you said was burnt
