"Bleed-over" can be caused by two things. The first is by 'dirty' transmitters
that splatter their signal onto other channels, and there is nothing you can do
to avoid it. The second by radios with poor selectivity, or 'adjacent channel
rejection', which also has two causes: poor design and poor alignment. Most AM
radios have more than adequate selectivity when properly aligned, but the
cheaper radios usually perform poorly. SSB has excellent adjacent channel
rejection by design.

Hope that helps.

Good advice, some radios and antenna hook ups will bleed
right out of the box.

Agreed, a very nice radio. Another one
that good, not quite as nice as the 2510, but
still good. Magnum 257.

Johnny the reason people need "bleed-over rejection " is overpowered
keyclowns running more than legal power now you have become one

Johnny V. Mullins January 21st 04 07:34 PM

I know, but it's not a perfect world. I'm just going the way the hobby has
gone since I got my license "KRM 4433" in '65 !!
Most replies to my original post deal with what causes bleed .... Hell ....
we all know what causes it, especially after 40 years
of playing with radios. I'm just seeing what receivers deal with the mess
out there better.
If communication is important, I use different a method .
C.B.on 27 MHZ isn't considered important enough to require a license any
more. I'll go back 3 1/2 watts and a 20 ft' antenna
height and use my call sign when C.B. goes back it's intended purpose :-)
and BWT : ..... As I remember it, That was pretty boring :-(

there are quite a few mods for this radio. it is a very good rig and 160 is
about a fair price. the chipswitch mod is something to chew on but if
you are
not handy in working inside radio's its suggested you find a good tech
who knoows what they are doing to install it. good luck with it.

Well, I've had the 2510 for a week .......... It was a cherry. I opened 27
mhz. ........ I like the radio so far.
The radio seems to handle the bleed-over pretty well, but not as well as I
expected from the replies to my original post :-(
I'll probably be doing some of the many "tricks" that are posted on the net
for it.
