Have a Cobra 148GTL as soon as it is switched on it goes in to tx mode (even
with no mike in) Anyone any idea`s?

Sounds like the switching transister is shot.

Sounds like the switching transister is shot.
Above is correct, happened to me with a 10 year old 148GTL. Simple repair
part cost $3US.
