Does anyone know anything about Dartz brand linear amplifiers. I think this
one is 50 watts. Do they have a clean output? Are they problematic? Any
comments appreciated.

Judging by it's overall size and wire thickness, it's probably only 50 watts
peak. That means 12.5 watts RMS in AM which won't even double your range, and
would just barely double the range in SSB. Hardly worth the effort when a better
antenna will do the same job for both transmit AND receive.

50 watts can make a decent driver in certain applications.
